Oatmeal & Lavender Bath Soak

Recipe, photography and styling Eleanor Cripps

Nothing induces relaxation quite like the scent of lavender, and particularly so in this milky bath soak. Oatmeal has soothing qualities and can help to soften, calm and nourish dry or itchy skin. You might as well make a few, as these little parcels also make a lovely gift.

What you’ll need:

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup dried lavender flowers*

2 small rounds muslin cloth, vintage doilies or cotton drawstring bags

Cotton ribbon or twine

*A blend of dried rose petals is also lovely.

Method:

Put the rolled oats into the bowl of a food processor and pulse until a fine meal forms.

Put the ground oats and lavender flowers in a small bowl and toss until combined.

Spoon the oat mixture between the rounds of cloth, then one at a time, bring up the corners to make a little bag. Tie tightly with ribbon or twine.

To use, simply put a bag into a warm bath. Once softened, squeeze the bag to get the milky liquid out of the oats. You can also use the bag to gently exfoliate your skin.
