Janelle Brunton Rennie & Grief: Podcast Feature

In association with Ti Ora Tea, Good Magazine presents to you a series of motivational podcasts covering a wide range of wellbeing topics. If you’re looking for new ways to care for the planet, the people around you, and yourself, Ti Ora Tea Talks is a great place to start.

Janelle Brunton Rennie has endured a significant amount of trauma and grief over the past couple of years, however, has decided to turn what has happened in her life into a positive.

After finding out her husband Kurt had cancer in January 2018, Janelle chose to share her grief journey on social media. Being open and honest about her grief and the difficulties her family was having to face, enabled Janelle to walk the journey in the comfort of her own home while having the support of thousands behind her.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to use my circumstance to help others negotiate such a tough time.”

Following Kurt’s passing in January 2019, Janelle has continued to use her Instagram account to help others battling grief and loss. Her house is still covered in photos of her husband and she talks to her baby girl Sage about her dad every day.

“It is important to smile and think about how lucky you were to have such a special person in your life for the time that you did.”

Janelle discusses that grief comes in waves, and when that wave does come, it is important to remember that you will come up the other side. She believes that the universe doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle.

“The best way to tackle grief is to always pull yourself back to the present moment.”

Janelle encourages to not think about what could have been with that person, but instead think about the amazing memories you were able to make together.

Janelle’s day to day life now includes exercising every day, sharing on her social media’s and looking after her little girl. With her gift of writing, she also hopes to have her own book.
