Streetwear label Huffer announces partnership with Mental Health Foundation at NZ Fashion Week.
Iconic New Zealand streetwear label Huffer is celebrating its 21st year in the fashion industry by closing New Zealand Fashion Week with another signature off-site show.
Building on the success of last year’s show of epic proportions at Spark Arena, Huffer will host a dynamic showcase at Auckland’s most loved music venue, Powerstation.
New Zealand Fashion Week will also serve as the platform for Huffer to introduce its new charity partnership with the Mental Health Foundation (MHF), shining a light on mental health and suicide prevention with a focus on the youth demographic.
’We saw New Zealand Fashion Week, and a big life event like our 21st birthday, as a great opportunity to unite everyone in support of a cause that is close to our hearts,’’ says Huffer founder, Steve Dunstan.
“The Huffer brand celebrates inclusiveness and bringing people together from all walks of life, and as a result we have a very strong, loyal and socially-aware community. As a brand, Huffer identify with the Mental Health Foundation’s key objectives and to summarise them, we came up with the phrase ‘People Presence’ which is the idea of being present to support one another and ourselves throughout life; something our Huffer community is in the perfect position to do. By partnering with the Foundation, we hope to help improve the well-being of the many who are suffering silently.
“We’ve created a limited-edition beanie that will be walked in the show and then available, alongside matching tote bags, in our retail stores with all proceeds going to the Foundation.’’
Huffer’s monthly Free Coffee Fridays at Britomart will also move to a donation-basis with all money raised being donated to the Foundation.
‘’We are very excited to be aligned with Huffer,“ MHF chief executive Shaun Robinson says. “Together we hope our beanie will not only keep your head warm, but also keep your soul strong. We want to encourage people to talk about the tough stuff, but those conversations aren’t easy. It’s great to have Huffer join the conversation and help us encourage people to talk about mental health and wellbeing openly and without judgement.”
Huffer will celebrate the 21st milestone in true 90s fashion, and to unveil the coveted A/W collection for 2019. The collection includes all new outerwear, featuring vibrant yellows and oranges alongside new camo prints including additional pieces for the functional collections, Down and Stay Dry.
