ecostore’s oral care range is better for you and the environment

New Zealand brand ecostore’s oral care range features toothpaste, mouthwash and toothbrushes, which use safer, naturally derived ingredients and plant plastic.

ecostore’s toothpaste and mouthwash use naturally derived ingredients, including magnolia bark extract and kanuka oil. These ingredients are known to be great for their ability to clean teeth and freshen breath. They also protect against germs that cause bad breath. With the inclusion of natural essential oils like peppermint, spearmint, menthol and clove leaf, you’re given an alternative to synthetic flavours to provide long-lasting freshness.

Also available in the oral care range is the new range with children specifically in mind; a kids toothpaste and toothbrush. The toothpaste uses safer plant- and mineral-based ingredients and has a naturally derived strawberry flavour. The toothbrush is also made from renewable, plant plastic.

Interestingly, New Zealand supermarket data shows natural toothpaste is the fastest growing segment in the total oral care category. The market share of natural toothpaste has increased by 1.5 per cent in just over a year, driven by the rapidly growing market of conscious consumers.

ecostore already offers plant-based packaging for their bottles and they’ve continued to innovate with plant plastic toothbrushes. Ecostore explains that plant plastic is bio-based, renewable and carbon neutral, with no nasty chemicals that are found in the production of petrochemical plastic such as BPA, PVC, phthalates.

The other great thing is that the toothbrushes and toothpaste tube are recyclable through ecostore’s oral care recycling programme. This involves ecostore collecting the brushes and toothpaste tubes from consumers via freepost and collection bins at key retailers. And where does this go? ecostore is reusing the plastic from the toothbrush handles in spanners for wholesale customers to open bulk containers, reducing the amount of virgin plastic the brand consumes.
