BLUNT x Frances Costelloe

PRODUCED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GOOD X BLUNT.

Talented UK artist and illustrator Frances Costelloe, known for her freeline drawings of faces and flora, has collaborated with BLUNT for the latest limited edition Metro umbrella.

Inspired by soft brushstrokes and hand sketched patterns, the print features paisley in a captivating cornflower blue designed to stand out even on the greyest of rainy days. “Cornflowers are my favourite flower,” says Costelloe. “The cornflower blue colour has been my favourite since I was a child.”

When looking for inspiration for the design, Costelloe says “I took a trip to the V&A (Victoria & Albert) with my sketch pad and camera, looking to reinterpret a pattern from their vast archives of fabric, ceramics and glassware. I have always loved a paisley pattern and traced its origins within their collection.”

“I have a psychedelic dress of this pattern and I love getting lost in the swirls and the teardrops. I sketched a lot of designs before I settled on the re-interpreted paisley” says Costelloe.

Costelloe is half Kiwi, something that is very close to BLUNT’s heart, having championed fellow New Zealanders throughout their history. A perfect fit, Costelloe notes that she was instantly drawn to BLUNT; “I loved the scalloped edge to the umbrella. It has converted me from a raincoat girl to an umbrella-in-a-bag kind of person.”

Available online and in stores from today, the BLUNT x Frances Costelloe collaboration is a must-have for any free-spirited art lover.
