A New Zealand festival dedicated to bees

What’s the buzz?

February 14th, 2021 will see the township of Matakana, just north of Auckland, host New Zealand’s first Festival dedicated to honey and bees.

The Big Buzz Festival is a free, family friendly, fun filled country fair dedicated to raising awareness on our pollinators and promote healthy living. With stalls of all things bees, food vendors, live entertainment, music, talks and workshops, activities for children and much more, the Big Buzz Festival promises to deliver a great day out.

The festival is the brain-child of Isabella Sullivan and Grass Esposti, two passionate female beekeepers living near Matakana. It began with their commitment to New Zealand Bees and Honey and their desire to spread the word about the importance of bees in our world and the huge variety of honey available. Sullivan and Esposti believe there is great opportunity for the community to become more engaged in the role of bees, the environment and sustainability.

The event is expected to attract over 2000 keen locals, Aucklanders and tourists alike, and the Matakana community is excited about the big buzz. For more information on the Festival visit thebigbuzz.nz.

WHEN: 14 February 2021
