5 things we should all know about menopause

Menopause expert, Lisa Grey of BePure Wellness shares the 5 things we should all know about menopause.

Most of us had ‘the talk’ before we got our first period, but no one gives you ‘the talk’ when you enter perimenopause.

Many of us go into our next stage without knowledge of what it’s like to lose your period or what happens to your body with that change.

And if you don’t know what the signs of menopause are, and how it feels, how are you meant to know when you’re in it? Thankfully change is afoot and we are in the midst of a surge in women leaning in and learning more about this natural physiological change.

The signs of Perimenopause

Perimenopause precedes menopause and on average, lasts for 4 years prior to a  woman’s last menstrual cycle.

It usually starts in your 40s but can happen from your mid-30s onwards. During this time production of progesterone declines and many women experience changes to their cycle length and flow i.e. shorter and heavier periods.

As progesterone declines, oestrogen is still at play as the body uses up the last of our egg reserves. This can lead to a rise in feelings of irritability, brain fog and loss of mental acuity.

Many of the symptoms during this time show up primarily as varying degrees of PMS.

Much like the PMS experienced during menstrual years, with the right TLC, we can ease the perimenopause transition by taking practical steps to balance out our hormones.

Prepare early

From your early 30’s, we can be preparing for the changes in our hormone levels.

The best thing we can do is support boosting our progesterone levels by nourishing our nervous system and supporting healthy ovulation. This is where BePure’s CycleCalm comes in.

It contains powerful hormone-nourishing herbs like Vitex, Cramp Bark and Peony, and adrenal supporting herbs like Ashwagandha and Rhodiola, to ease PMS symptoms, support normal progesterone production, and a calm nervous system.

It’s individual

It is not a one size fits all situation. All will experience menopause differently.

For some, it takes a couple of months; for others, it can be years.

And around 20 per cent will have no symptoms at all. But with one-quarter of the world’s population predicted to reach the stage by 2030, it’s definitely worth learning more, and talking about it too.

Menopause is just one day

The ‘menopause moment’ is marked by one year since your last period.

In menopause, we want to support and balance our lowered hormone levels to soothe the common signs associated with the transition.

BePure’s MenoCalm is formulated with powerful herbs such as Ashwagandha, Sage Leaf and Black Cohosh to throw ice on those hot flushes, bad sleep and night sweats, alongside choline and chromium to keep your memory sparky, your mood stable, and hopefully, your menopausal friendship manageable!

Post- Menopause is a full vibe

While it might take a while to ease off some of the menopausal signs, it could be argued that this final stage is nature’s best-kept secret.

The levelling out of all those hormones result in many women feeling fantastic with a boost in confidence, emotional stability and a newly found sense of freedom.
