Watch politicians taking part in the upcoming New Zealand General Election answer the tough questions regarding climate change policies in a live debate. Politicians including National’s Tim Groser, Minister for Climate Issues, Labour deputy leader David Parker, Green co-leader Russel Norman and New Zealand First deputy leader Tracey Martin, will try to convince climate voters their party’s policies will work best to take action on climate change.
Since establishing in June 2014 the Climate Voter initiative has seen more than 55,000 Kiwis sign on to have their voices heard and bring about change to leading climate change topics. These impressive numbers demonstrate the fact that many New Zealanders are in support of strategies to rapidly phase out fossil fuels and grow New Zealand’s clean energy and low-carbon potential.
The 90-minute debate will give parties the opportunity to convince those watching that by voting for them, they are promised action on climate change.
The Climate Voter initiative is a non-partisan alliance of six leading New Zealand organisations: Forest and Bird, 350 Aotearoa, Greenpeace, Generation Zero, Oxfam New Zealand and WWF New Zealand. Since its launch on June 22 this year more than 45,000 Kiwis have signed on.
