Single-Use Planet

Sustainable fashion brand Kowtow will appear on the New Zealand Fashion Week schedule this august to host an enlightening conversation between three of the country’s most innovative fashion and beauty entrepreneurs.

Gosia Piatek, founder of Kowtow, will sit down with luxury skincare entrepreneur Emma Lewisham and Deadly Ponies creative director, Liam Bowden, for an immersive seminar experience entitled Single-Use Planet.

This event aims to inspire industry leaders and consumers alike in ways in which the fashion and beauty sector needs to create their own unique and innovative sustainability pathway to the future.

The event will be hosted by popular radio host and podcast producer, Noelle McCarthy.

Single-use Planet won’t dwell on the industries’ urgent need to address sustainability because all three brands have these ideas ingrained in their DNA already.

From packaging and DTC marketing to green science and material analysis, Single-Use Planet will focus on global positive impact and how brands and consumers can transfer ground-breaking ideas and discussion into worldwide action and world-first innovation.

Kowtow’s trailblazing vision has positioned the company as one of New Zealand’s most lauded sustainable fashion brands.

Since relocating all staff to Wellington and closing several international offices during 2020, Pistek’s intent for Kowtow is to move past wishful thinking around sustainability and instead propel the industry and fashion fans to act and innovate.

“Sustainability can’t be your company’s tagline anymore, or a sub-heading under the odd product. Customers expect sustainability to be genuine and present in whatever they touch,” says Pistek.

“Kowtow started 15 years ago with sustainability in its DNA. For us it’s not about playing catch-up, it’s about coming together with other trailblazing entrepreneurs and brands to share and empower our industries towards innovation and meaningful change.”

Emma Lewisham, founder of her eponymous luxury skincare brand says that the property of a business should be used to positively impact the prosperity of our planet and our people.

“Creating positive impact simply takes one passionate person after another, choosing to embody the change they wish to see, and this is why I am inspired by Gosia.”

Liam Bowden

Driving change from New Zealand, Deadly Ponies founder & creative director, Liam Bowden, believes, “coming together as an industry is so important to continue to spark sustainable innovation. For us, transparency is ingrained in our ethos and considered at every step, but there is always more we can learn from each other. As a brand, we are constantly striving for greater sustainability, however, it is not without challenges.”

Kowtow’s Single-Use Planet will be held on Tuesday 24th August at the Auckland Town Hall, tickets are on sale now.
