Our land is beautiful – breathtaking mountains, sparkling rivers and gorgeous beaches. Even in our largest cities, nature is close by. And with BMW Group’s electric range, you can explore Aotearoa knowing you’re keeping it green.

Who doesn’t want to jump in the car and find a new favourite camping spot, or head off surfing? Electric vehicles are the ideal way to explore the country without emissions, but range anxiety can act as a brake on your plans.

Enter BMW Group, with its range of 19 locally available fully electric variants across MINI and BMW. The group has installed 100 Generation 3 BMW Wallbox public chargers in 42 locations across Aotearoa, including hotels, lodges and restaurants. Ideal for charging the new MINI and BMW fully electric models. From Waiheke to Queenstown, Arrowtown to Turangi, you can relax and recharge when you need to.

Sustainable Adventures

Picture the scene: you’re visiting Rotorua for the day. Steam rises as you soak in a hot pool. You close your eyes and life seems pretty alright again. Back in the car, you check how far it is to Taupō, your destination for the night. And there, at the Sacred Waters Apartments, you can charge up. Awesome.

Perhaps you’ve been visiting Twizel – such wide skies! But now your low battery warning is flashing and those chill road trip vibes are turning tense. Never fear: the My BMW app says there’s a charging station at Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat, just 10km away. High tea? I think so.

BMW Group has installed chargers at places where drivers usually spend at least an hour, so there’s plenty of time to top-up or fully charge their EV, depending on the model.

Tomorrow’s Trends Today

Electrification is a real priority for BMW Group. By the end of 2025, it will have delivered around 2 million fully electric vehicles to customers worldwide – a figure expected to grow by 50% each year by 2035.

Performance, design and efficiency are at the heart of all BMW Group’s vehicles – whether fully electric, plug-in hybrid or combustion. MINI has also welcomed a new model to the family, the MINI Aceman, which will be produced exclusively as a fully electric vehicle, the first for the brand.

It’s one of many ways BMW Group is innovating with a sustainable future in mind. Working towards being a carbon neutral business by 2050, the group is designing more resource efficient vehicles, always aiming to recycle, reduce consumption and repurpose items such as EV batteries at the end of a vehicle’s lifespan.

Long at the forefront of sustainability, all BMW Group production plants worldwide run on 100% renewable energy, and only aluminium produced with solar power is used.

Stylish And Sustainable

Already, recycled polyester fibres are used in the electric MINI’s dashboard and door panels. Making the recycled material uses about 98% less water compared to cotton fabric, with CO2 emissions around 80% lower than conventional polyester processing.

Many elements in BMW Group’s new vehicles are made from recycled PET bottles, including headliners, padding fabric, seats, floor mats and floor coverings.
