Keeping sustainability at the heart of everything it does, clean, vegan skincare brand Scenturie Natural Skincare, is turning heads across Aotearoa and the world.
Founded in 2020 by health professional Tania Cibulskis, Scenturie has quickly garnered worldwide recognition, winning multiple awards for its commitment to purity, efficacy, and environmental responsibility.
Over the past three years, the brand has won 14 International Beauty Shortlist Awards, alongside global natural beauty titans. Among these gentle and hydrating formulas is their multi award-winning Nourishing Natural Day Cream, a super-gentle, nutrient-rich moisturiser that will hydrate, strengthen and nourish your skin all day long.
This year, Scenturie’s Men’s Enhancing Facial Moisturiser not only earned the title of ‘Best Moisturiser’ in the Men’s skincare category but five of the brand’s women’s natural skincare products achieved the Editor’s Choice Awards for the second year in a row. Additionally, Scenturie claimed the second-place spot in the 2023 Cruelty-Free NZ Awards by NZAVS.
With more than 24 years of experience as a health professional, Tania is passionate about all things to do with health, wellness and caring for the planet and says sustainability is a key driver in everything the brand does.
“It is vitally important to us that we know where our ingredients are from, and whether they are grown and harvested sustainably,” says Tania.
Sustainable packaging is also front of mind for Tania and she says with the beauty industry being a major contributor to the global plastic crisis, plastic packaging just wasn’t an option.
Instead, Scenturie uses amber glass made from virgin sand, which can be recycled infinitely and is one of the most eco-friendly packaging options available on the planet. Scenturie’s glass jars are sealed with black aluminium lids that are also fully recyclable.
To further put the company’s sustainability ethics into action, Scenturie developed the ‘Returnable Product Packaging Service’. This service works by encouraging customers to return empty jars and bottles in exchange for Eco-points, ultimately closing the loop on single-use packaging.
Recently Scenturie has unveiled a new product —the Regenerate Natural Eye Cream, which includes upcycled apple seed oil, hyaluronic acid, resveratrol, and New Zealand Harakeke Leaf extract.
“It is a lightweight, nutrient-rich formula designed to improve the health and appearance of the skin around the delicate eye area,” says Tania.
“We chose to use upcycled apple seed oil as not only does it contain high levels of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential nutrients necessary for collagen formation and healthy skin, but it is produced using the waste pulp left over from apple juice manufacturing that would otherwise be discarded.
“I have been very interested in using upcycled ingredients in our skincare products for a while as they play a significant role in addressing the global challenges of waste management and resource depletion,” she adds.
“Upcycled ingredients include plant by-products and discarded raw materials, mainly from food-production streams, that would otherwise be thrown away, but instead are crafted into new ingredients and can be used with great results in skincare formulations. It is an exciting prospect to create nutritious skincare products that have a positive environmental impact and the potential to reduce waste.”
Already, the response to this eye cream has exceeded expectations and the first batch sold out in two days.
“It is very encouraging to see consumers giving more thought to what they put on their skin and prioritising natural ethically sourced ingredients over synthetic alternatives,” Tania says.
“Everything we put onto our skin is either absorbed by our bodies or washed down the drain back into the environment, so it makes good sense to buy products that don’t cause harm to either.”
