Find a place to sit or lie quietly.
Ask yourself – who do I need to forgive?
Allow the first person that pops into your mind’s eye, or your inner knowing to be the most important one for you just now. Don’t override the first initial burst of intuition, just because you believe you are over that already and someone else has hurt you way worse in your life. Go with the first. Maybe it’s you and nobody else?
You’ll need a spare bit of paper for this one. Hopefully the paper is compostable!
Write down ‘Dear *full name*’ on paper and begin to write a letter to this person, or the old you. Include all the things you always wanted to say to them, write out the effect they had on your life. Don’t hold back, lay it all out, nothing is wrong with how you feel. Feel into every emotion that arises.
Next, write everything you learned from this experience, think of all the good it brought because there are always polarities to any experience.
Lie down again and imagine them in your mind. If this is you, see the old you.
By doing this exercise this doesn’t mean that these people must go from your life. But it means new experiences without the energetic attachment of the issue can be created going forward.
Surround them in white light in your imagination.
Get ready to let go, see their image walk away and with it imagine every bit of their energy leaving your body, and feel every bit of your energy that didn’t belong to them come back to you.
Then, tear up the letter. Put it in your compost or bin.
Say “may we walk forward for the good of all involved, thank you, thank you, thank you”.
