Healthy, nutritious, delicious and chocolate!

Avocado is the hero ingredient in this decadent chocolate smoothie, which could just as easily be whipped up for dessert. I love avocados as they are delicious, but also a “real food”. The healthy fats in avocados are also good skin-food! I styled this smoothie bowl by topping it with coconut chips, pomegranate seeds, cacao nibs and bee pollen with a swirl of coconut yoghurt for added ‘wow factor’, but you don’t need all these toppings as the recipe is deliciously decadent on its own.
My kids love it as much as I do. You can make it in just a few minutes then pop it in the fridge for a snack later on. It’s healthy and nutritious and I don’t feel one bit guilty when I scoff it.
Chocolate Lovers’ Dream Smoothie Bowl
1 ripe avocado (skin off, stone removed)
1 frozen banana
3 fresh plump dates (stones removed)
½ cup almond milk
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 tablespoon almond oil
Place all the ingredients in a blender and process to a smooth consistency with no flecks of avocado. Pour the mixture into a smoothie bowl then “dig” it out with a spoon. Add a topping if you feel like being a fancy-pants.
For a protein boost add 1 scoop of Lifestream Essential Protein vanilla flavour.
