- Take your reusable bags to the supermarket
- Say no to plastic straws
- Get your coffee in a reusable cup
- Choose plastic-free fibres like cotton, wool or hemp
- Get a reusable water bottle
- Use bulk bins
- Find toilet paper that doesn’t come in plastic
- Take a container for your lunch
- Use beeswax/vegan wrap instead of plastic wrap
- Avoid plastic Christmas trees
- Go paperless with your bills
- Look for pet food in paper bags
- Buy seeds or seedlings that don’t come in plastic
- Buy products that come in glass or cardboard instead
- Repair or upcycle broken items
- Line your bin with newspaper
- Make your period waste-free
- Look for shampoo and conditioner bars
- Wooden/bamboo toothbrushes, dish brushes and hair brushes
- Take your own container for meat and deli items
- Buy fresh bread in paper bags (or take your own bag)
- Stop chewing gum
- Use wooden clothes pegs
- Look at alternatives to gift wrap
- Get an ice cream cone instead of ice cream in a cup
- Use reusable make-up remover pads
- Go to your local farmers market
- Avoid products with “polypropylene” or “polyethylene”
- Use matches instead of a lighter
- Make your own sparkling water — flavour it with cordials from glass bottles
- Organise a beach clean-up
