Starting September 21, FSC Forest Week 2024 kicks off a global initiative aimed at increasing consumer awareness about the importance of sustainable forestry. Running from September 21-27, this campaign, spearheaded by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), emphasises the critical role of sustainable forestry in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity.
This year’s theme, “Small steps together create big change for all,” invites individuals and organisations to consider how everyday actions, like responsible purchasing, can lead to significant environmental benefits. Participants, including forestry organisations, retail giants, and fashion brands in Australia and New Zealand, will engage in various activities, from social media campaigns to competitions, to showcase their commitment to sustainable practices.

The campaign encourages everyone to contribute to a sustainable future, reminding us that even small efforts can make a difference. FSC Forest Week serves as an opportunity for consumers, business leaders, and environmental organisations to engage in discussions about sustainable forest management and to promote forest-friendly choices beyond the week-long celebration.
FSC CEO Melanie Robertson highlights the power of everyday choices, urging consumers to look for the FSC label on products, from packaging to fashion. “Small, everyday choices can lead to significant change,” she emphasises.

Participating organizations like Port Blakely and Hallmark Australia and New Zealand are actively promoting FSC certification. Port Blakely, celebrating 20 years of FSC certification in New Zealand, is proud to be among the first essential oil manufacturers to achieve this status. Hallmark has relaunched its Signature card collection using 100% recyclable materials, aligning their practices with their sustainability goals.
Together, through FSC Forest Week, individuals and organisations can drive meaningful change for our forests and the planet. Join the movement by engaging with FSC’s initiatives and sharing awareness on social media.
