Reinvent a sad old picnic basket as a snazzy new sewing case

Step 1
Find an old suitcase or basket to repurpose. We used an old cane picnic hamper.
Step 2
Brush the basket free of dust using a soft brush, or give the case a wipe over with a soft, damp cloth.
Step 3
Paint in the colour of your choice. When painting caneware, use a dabbing motion with your paint brush to ensure even coverage.
Step 4
Paint any small boxes you wish to use to match, plus the lids of any jars.
Step 5
Once the basket is dry, use your testpot to add a few contrasting elements.
Step 6
If necessary, stitch or glue a new fabric lining in place.
