Conservation Week 2024 – Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Tūroa, running from 2-8 September 2024, is an invitation to all New Zealanders to step up and take action for the environment.
This year’s theme, Take Action for Nature, encourages us to engage in activities that help preserve our native flora and fauna. Whether it’s picking up litter, volunteering or participating in local events, there are countless ways to make a positive impact. By getting involved, we can all contribute to protecting the unique biodiversity that makes Aotearoa special. Click here to find events happening near you this week.
This week is packed with opportunities to get hands-on with conservation efforts. From community clean-ups to educational events organised by the Department of Conservation (DOC) and local groups, there’s something for everyone. DOC provides a guide to planning your own events and offers digital resources to help spread the word.
By participating in Conservation Week, you’re not just helping the environment – you’re joining a national movement dedicated to ensuring that future generations can enjoy New Zealand’s natural beauty.
