“The tiny house awards are a competition that very much focuses on the design and quality of the home,” says Sharla May, NZ Tiny House Award organiser. “Not only does it expose to the public, the best of what the industry can achieve, but it pushes each individual builder to achieve higher and higher standards. We see a greater level of quality of entries being submitted each year, for some of the builds you see it’s not just about the interior space, for some it’s about the feeling of the people living in the space, about movement within the space, and using quality materials on the construction.”
