Winter Lipstick Trends

We talk to lipstick queen Karen Murrell about all things lips & trends for the cooler months ahead.

What do you foresee as being the main lip colours that are going to dominate the cooler months ahead?

Colour is the key tool when communicating as we know eyes always go straight to the lips as the focal point of anyone’s face.

Browns, Lilacs such as 16 Lavender Laughter, and deep reds such as 21 Fiery Ruby will be on-trend these winter months. It’s a totally honest palette of natural hues this winter, and it’s one that is very easy for all skin tones to wear.

Any lip trends we need to be aware of?

Beauty and cosmetics always follow political trends. As the world becomes more uncertain colours worn become brighter, and people use colour to show their sense of freedom or use different shades to display their personality.

What about the 90s which are influencing fashion choices presently? Are brown hues set to make a comeback this winter?

Chocolate browns, deep burnt oranges, alongside brown plums. Everything in the nude shades are very dulled down this season as opposed to more pink nudes.

What are some of the big shifts that we’ll see in the beauty world in the coming year?

Consumers will start to see a difference on the shelves as designers we need to realise packaging needs to compose in the present, not in 100 years’ time. I think it is the revolutions like these that cause big shifts in our industry.

What will be your personal go-to shades over the cooler months?

I am loving shaking up my lipstick wardrobe wearing a bright True Love lip liner with Peony Petal lipstick over the top. As we know this season, it is all about contrasting colours, shaking things up, and expressing yourself through colour.

Do you have any new and exciting products that you can tell us a little bit about?

The Sugar Scrub which will transform your self-care routine.

Use before makeup application for a smooth canvas,  just before bed, or as a part of your morning routine.
