This smoothie is great for your skin, thanks to the collagen creamer and blackcurrant powder. Collagen is such a big trend right now – but is it really that beneficial?
The answer is yes, in both bovine and marine forms, according to What the Face, written by dietitian Dr Caryn Zinn, professor Grant Schofield and chef Craig Rodger (which by the way is a very cool book and guide on how to look good on the inside and outside).
As the book reads: “Both bovine and marine collagen provide nearly the same benefits, i.e., they are both really good for skin, hair, gut and bone health, and will therefore be equally beneficial.”
Blackcurrant powder is also trending, and, in this recipe, I’ve used a Kiwi-made product. It’s a great way to get some Vitamin C, which is a well-known antioxidant and fantastic for your skin, too.
Blackcurrant Blast
INGREDIENTS:
2 bananas (skin removed)
1 sachet Viberi blackcurrant powder
1 heaped teaspoon collagen creamer (I used the Dose & Co vanilla flavour)
2 cups almond milk
2 teaspoons Manuka honey (I love Manuka Dr 100+ MGO)
Wwo handfuls of ice
METHOD:
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend (I use a Vitamix). Pour into a large glass and enjoy.
