Good’s Natalie Cyra talked to American filmmaker Shannon Aroha about her short film, Born At Sea, filmed here in New Zealand, on her inspirations and history as a videographer and creative. 

Born at Sea is a short narrative film following the curious journey of young Luna as she reflects on her ancestors arriving in New Zealand. It was inspired by a true story from Aroha’s conversation with a stranger at The Shack, a popular Raglan cafe,  in regards to his family pilgrimage from Scotland. The rolling hills of the Waikato sets the scene as this young girl dreams into what it may have been like to arrive in New Zealand many years ago…
