Dancing improves memory

Many studies have shown that dancing can improve brain function and boost memory.  In a study by researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, they found that dancing is associated with a 76% reduced risk of dementia among the participants. If you think about it, when you’re learning a dance, you need to be able to pick up the moves, remember what comes next and stay in time with the music. So, doing this on a regular basis, will help you brain immensely. Your brain is a muscle; the more you use it the stronger it becomes.

Dancing reduces the effects of depression

Did you know around 1 million Australians have depression and 2 million suffer from anxiety? For those who suffer from depression and anxiety, exercise is a great way to help you feel better, and dancing especially has been shown to provide promising results for your mental health. Dancing helps your mind focus on the movement of the body, allowing your mind to focus on emotional expression and letting go.

Dancing heightens endorphins

Dancing is a great way to get those endorphins flowing. It is shown to play a role in not only social bonding, but also for lifting your mood. Learning a routine is hard, so once you have the moves down packed, it gives you a sense of reward. Endorphins also take your brain a step further than serotonin by limiting feelings of tiredness and pain. They free up your energy to focus on the fun of dancing instead of the fact that it’s making you sleepy and maybe even a little sore!
