November brings a surge of awareness and solidarity as Movember returns, aiming to change the way we think about men’s health. With a mission to address critical issues like mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, Movember is the world’s leading charity dedicated to improving and extending men’s lives.
Why Movember matters
Since 2003, Movember has funded over 1,250 men’s health projects globally, with a laser focus on what actually works for men.
In New Zealand, men are dying an average of 3.5 years earlier than women, often due to preventable health issues*. Men’s health often receives less attention, leading to critical conditions being detected too late. Movember tackles these silent crises by funding programs and research that directly target the well-being of men, from mental health support to innovative treatments for prostate and testicular cancer. Through their work, Movember aims to make sure that men live happier, healthier and longer lives.
Bunnings Trade joins the Movember movement
This year Bunnings Trade is joining the fight for men’s health with a new initiative: limited-edition, moustache-patterned drink bottles. Priced at $25, these drink bottles are available throughout November, with 100 per cent of the proceeds supporting Movember’s projects in Aotearoa. Bunnings Trade NZ has been a proud partner of Movember for several years, having raised over $100,000 through exclusive merch sales and in-store events.
On Friday, 8 November, Bunnings stores nationwide will host a special Movember BBQ breakfast to celebrate the launch. From 7am – 9am, all customers are invited to join for a free bacon and egg roll at the trade entrance of their local Bunnings, while grabbing one of these limited-edition drink bottles to support men’s health.
“We’re really proud to be partnering with Movember again this year,” says Matt Heinrich, Head of Bunnings Trade NZ. “Our team looks forward to another successful campaign, raising awareness for the incredibly important work Movember does for men’s health.”
The power of Mo Bros and Mo Sisters
Since its humble beginnings, Movember has grown into a truly global movement. Today, it has engaged over five million “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sisters” worldwide who have raised both funds and awareness through moustache-growing challenges, community events and fundraising initiatives. These supporters are the backbone of the movement, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and, of course, moustaches to the cause.
But you don’t have to grow a moustache to make a difference. Movember encourages everyone to participate in ways that work for them, whether that’s buying a Movember drink bottle, attending a fundraiser or simply sharing information about men’s health with friends and family.
Get involved
To make a direct impact, consider donating to Movember or purchasing one of the limited-edition drink bottles available at Bunnings stores this month. Every donation fuels research, supports services and helps raise awareness of men’s health issues, bringing us one step closer to a future where men live longer, healthier lives.
