Adorn your face with a piece of iconic Kiwi art, and support a fantastic cause, thanks to Dick Frizzell and Specsavers.

The second release of Kiwi artist Dick Frizzell’s woodgrain-printed frames has launched at Specsavers stores across the country. Available from 29 August 2019 for a limited time, $25 from the purchase of each pair of frames will be donated to The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ, who help end avoidable blindness in the Pacific.

Frizzell says, “Eye care is hugely important anywhere but the added challenges of geography and access to technology call for that much more effort. With The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ you can really see where the money goes to support those in need in the Pacific.”

The iconic woodgrain print that features on the limited-edition glasses stems from a challenge 30 years ago, where a group of artists were taken to the Crown Lynn pottery to decorate blank plates and jugs.

“I thought it would be fun to make the ceramic look as though it’d been made of wood. I did this Fred Flintstone sort of cartoon woodgrain. It was very popular,” Frizzell says.

You can order your pair of frames from Specsavers stores nationwide from Thursday 29 August. They’re priced from $169.
