If you love cola and you love chilli, you’re in for a refreshing treat with Karma Cola’s new limited edition flavour

Love chilli? Love cola? You’re in for a treat. Karma Cola have collaborated with The Lucky Taco to create New Zealand’s first Mexican, African chilli cola to celebrate Día De Los Muertos (also known as the The Day of the Dead) – available for a limited time only and exclusive to Farro Fresh and Moore Wilsons.

The chilli cola comes after nine months of experimenting with flavours, says Karma Cola co-founder Simon Coley. “We wondered what would happen if our friends from the best Mexican food truck in town combined their talents and flavours with our cola,” says Coley.

Sarah Frizzell, The Lucky Taco co-founder says the flavour match paid off. “We wanted our chilli cola to have the right balance of heat, sweet and sour, where you can taste the ingredients but also get a kick.”

The chilli cola’s hot and sweet but not so hot or sweet you can’t finish the bottle.”

The artwork on the packaging is also impressive – another collaboration between Otis Frizzell, co-founder and creator of The Lucky Taco’s friendly skull, and Beck Wheeler, the artist who drew the Karma Cola angel and devil. “Our styles worked really well together in a kind of visual alchemy,” says Coley, “the elements combined to create something unique.”

In Karma Cola fashion, the chilli cola not only looks good and tastes good, it does good too. Every bottle sold will give back to the Karma Cola Foundation.

Chilli Cola is a limited edition product – only available until Día De Los Muertos: November 1.
