Entrepreneur environmentalist Brianne West new Barbie role model

Brianne West has been honoured and recognised by Barbie Role Models for her work as an environmentalist and social entrepreneurship, by being announced as this year’s official Barbie role model for Aotearoa New Zealand!

West is well known both in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally for her innovative work in the beauty industry, having founded the world first zero-waste beauty brand, Ethique.

The Kiwi entrepreneur is passionate about creating environmentally friendly products, she believes that we can create a healthier sustainable world while still continuing positive economic growth.

Barbie has announced that in celebration of International Day Of The Girl, this year it will honour 12 female role models from around the globe with one-of-a-kind dolls modelled to look like these amazing women. By doing so Barbie hopes to inspire the next generation to achieve their dreams!

Brianne West has joined a list of woman who are leaders in their receptive industries by receiving the brand’s highest honour, a barbie made in their likeness. New Zealand fashion designer Karen Walker received the honour in 2021!

This year, West along with a number of amazing women has been bestowed with this honour. The 2022 honourees include Shonda Rhimes (United States), founder of American television production company, Shondaland, and Pat McGrath (United Kingdom), make-up artist and founder of Pat McGrath labs.

Being named a Barbie Role Model for Aotearoa New Zealand for 2022 is “a real honour” says West. “… to be alongside women around the world doing incredible things. Also, having role models across all industries that are as diverse as the real world is, is enormously important.”

Barbie aims to inspire the next generation of innovators. By not only honouring female role models with this unique award as part of their multi-faceted campaign, they have also teamed up with likeminded companies and programs to publicly support and highlight revolutionary woman.

Not only is Barbie committed to inspiring future generations but they also aim to help build the confidence of girls everywhere and show them that they have limitless potential and can achieve anything they put their minds to.

In order to further inspire young girls and honour International Day of the Girl Barbie is continuing to support a number of projects including the Barbie Dream Gap Project Partnership, and alongside Jane Goodall Institute, Barbie introduced the 2022 Career of the Year Eco- Leadership Team.
