Deadly Ponies supports RainbowYOUTH with silent auction

Deadly Ponies has partnered with RainbowYOUTH NZ in a bid to raise awareness around the issues facing our local LGBTQIA+ community.

The brand has custom-made an extremely limited, one-off capsule, titled Pride, to be sold via silent auction in-stores and online, with 100% of the proceeds going to RainbowYOUTH.

“RainbowYouth is a critical resource for young people struggling with their identity. Almost one-third of people in New Zealand have a personal experience of mental illness, and members of the LGBTQIA+ rainbow community are almost twice as likely to suffer. Liam and I feel that we can use our business to highlight these issues, and can use our own experiences to enlighten, support, and hopefully inspire our young people” says Deadly Ponies CEO Steve Boyd.

As partners in life and business, Steve & Liam felt the partnership was the perfect alignment, creating an opportunity to support youth growing up in New Zealand, and further afield. Working together across a number of initiatives both internally and in the community; RainbowYOUTH and Deadly Ponies hope to encourage positive conversation around diversity and inclusion, building a safe space for young people.

“We’re stoked to have Deadly Ponies supporting our mahi. It’s wonderful to work alongside a business that shares our values and is part of the whānau. A big part of what we do is showing rainbow young people that their identity is a strength, that they can grow up to do anything their heart desires. That there is a whole community here to cheer them on. What an awesome way to share that message having a proud, successful couple like Steve and Liam and an international brand supporting our mahi” says Frances Arns, RainbowYOUTH Executive Director.

Crafted from recycled leathers, the exclusive capsule sees a kaleidoscope of colours in a rainbow patchwork for one of Deadly Ponies’ most-enduring shapes, Mini Leopard. With no bag the same, each is a truly conscious collectors item. The silent auction is open to New Zealand and Australian residents, with the auction commencing 10am Thursday 18 February, and closing 6pm Saturday 20 February both in Deadly Ponies’ stores, and online.
