The new drop looks to complement and gratify New Zealand’s upcoming festivities.
rey, the label has announced its ‘Summer Collection 2022’, paying homage to the beginning of the season and the time to reset, after a year of twists and turns.
Joining the existing collection will be three new bags, including two fresh colourways – sage and black – in the brand’s most coveted piece, the ‘From Me, To Me’ purse.
Local Founders and Owners, Ella Stanton and Miky Ryken, were inspired by archived memories and the happy moments found amongst the warm break when concepting the new collection.
“We pictured the new bags as functional mementoes for all those moments we spend with our loved ones; enjoying local food, road trips, picnics and dabbling in a little bit of retail therapy. No matter the occasion, your rey, the label piece can effortlessly be a part of it. Our aim with this launch is to bring to life an assortment of styles that allow Kiwi women to create new unforgettable memories and meaningful connections every time they grab their bag” says Ryken.
Stanton adds, “We wanted to create a companion for our community for those long lunches and evening wines, for the music festivals and beach days. A piece you won’t need to pair, as it pairs with you.”
Through a carefully curated collection of vegan leather handbags, the brands’ vision is to empower fashion-savvy women from all walks of life and elevate their wardrobes.
Diving into the design specifics, Stanton acknowledges that there is a visual consistency that has carried through from rey, the label’s initial entrance into the market to now.
She explains, “you will notice that each piece reflects a simple, yet elevated aesthetic, similar to our debut collection. The bags are versatile is design, with removable brass-finish chains, to take you from dawn to dusk. Versatility for us is always on the mood board.”
To celebrate the launch, rey, the label will be operating a pop-up shop in Ponsonby Central from now until 24th December to give the Founders the opportunity to connect with their Auckland community and for curious customers to acquaint themselves with the new release.
“We’re so excited to bring to life a pop-up store and get some face-time with our customers, particularly as rey, the label has lived online since launch. We’re just getting started and 2022 will allow us to continue fostering relationships with our customer base so we can understand what they’d like to see from us next. Our community is the foundation of our brand and we can’t wait to continue connecting with them and creating pieces that they will cherish,” says Ryken.
The Summer Collection 22 by rey, the label will be available for pre-orders from Monday 13th December online and in-store at Ponsonby Central, with Afterpay available at checkout.
