Auckland Climate Festival 2022

A programme of 125+ innovative and engaging climate focused events taking place from 1–31 October.

This year the festival theme is ‘Ancestor. Me. I am a good ancestor. Believing in our future’ with a focus on asking Aucklanders to consider our role as future ancestors who will be proud of the actions we’ve taken to address the climate challenges we are facing.

Auckland Climate Festival 2022 will be hosted by rangatahi, community groups and climate and business leaders, with over 125+ impactful events being held throughout Tāmaki Makaurau, to ensure there is something in the programme for everyone to participate in during the month of October. Most of these events are free, or low cost and open to anyone to attend.

The driver behind the festival is to celebrate and accelerate climate action in the community. Now in its second year, the number of climate-focused events during the month of Auckland Climate Festival has almost doubled, and founder Michelle Kennedy says she is looking forward to seeing more participants get together in-person, and online in October to encourage and inspire each other towards a more positive climate future.

“The festival gives us an opportunity as a city to come together and build community cohesion – something that will become increasingly important as we continue to face the impacts of climate change and work together to both adapt to these, but also transform the way we do things as a collective – in the same direction – and for good”.
