If you’re in Auckland and you love art, you’ll want to get amongst Artweek taking place from October 7-15.

The 10-day festival will showcase the visual arts and artists of New Zealand across 10 Auckland precincts (Central City, Newmarket, Ponsonby, Arch Hill, Parnell, K’ Road, Devonport, East, West and South).

Expect to see a vibrant and dynamic programme providing a unique chance to explore Auckland’s amazingly diverse art world, set in public to private spaces, pop ups, streets and everything in-between.

The Heart of the City in Auckland’s CBD is illuminated with over forty art events, including Changing Lanes where teams of artists transform three city lanes, implementing intriguing installations that add character and life to the cityscape.

Late Night Art on Tuesday October 10 will see art galleries open late, with guided walking and cycling tours and live art events.

Electric Night makes its return to K’ Road on Thursday October 12, with galleries along the road open late, ending the evening with an exclusive art party.

If you’re keen to hone your artistic skills, there is a unique opportunity to work with writer Tessa Duder to hone writing skills as part of the Creative Writing Project, at Railway Studios in Newmarket. Handmade in Parnell also offers the chance to learn techniques direct from skilled artisans and artists such as trying your hand at water colour.

The popular outdoor exhibit GLOW also returns to Devonport, with teams of students from Unitec School of Architecture developing and implementing stunning light installations in Windsor Reserve. Devonport Village becomes even more vibrant with exhibitions, art films at The Vic, along with special offers on dining and much more.

Auckland will come alive with drama, light, transformations, graffiti, and art, and there’s set to be something for every art lover and learner this Artweek.
