Need to get back into living a more mindful life? Auckland yoga studio, Studio Red is holding workshops which could be just what you are looking for.

This May and June, contemporary hot yoga studio Studio Red, based in Auckand’s CBD is teaming up with one of New Zealand’s leading mindfulness experts to offer one-off workshops across May and June 2016.

Studio Red and Dr Chantal Hofstee, clinical psychologist and mindfulness educator, will offer a limited series of workshops designed to teach mindfulness techniques that aid with stress, managing emotions, and improving mental and physical wellbeing.

There will be two sessions held by Dr Hofstee, one in May and one in June which will focus on managing stress in the modern day world and learning about emotions and the effect they take on everyday life.

Studio Red will also host two extra workshops, focussing on introducing beginners to Vinyasa yoga in a relaxing, pressure-free environment as a back-to-basics intro to the world of Vinyasa. The other session is designed to release tension from head to toe.

About The Workshops

Mindfulness verses stress: May 21

Life keeps getting busier and more demanding, and stress is an inevitable consequence of that. It is not likely that this will change any time soon, so learning how to manage stress is essential if you want to be healthy and enjoy life. This workshop is all about learning Mindfulness techniques that clear your mind, improve your breathing and reduce tension in your body. So you can have a healthy body and a clear mind even during the busiest days. 2-4pm, $120

Vinyasa Basics for Absolute Beginners : May 28

Have you always wanted to learn Vinyasa yoga, but been intimidated by open classes? Lead by Studio Red manager Erica Davis, this is your opportunity to start from scratch and gain the skills needed to take up a regular practice. Absolute beginners will be able to move slowly, get personal adjustments and foundational knowledge to feel confident enough to join our Open Vinyasa classes. If you’re more experienced, come along to refine and clarify your basic postures and technique. 2-4pm, $60

Mindfulness and Emotions, 18 June

Emotions are just visitors – they come and go, but sometimes they need a little bit of help with the ‘going’ part. When you have lingering negative feelings or are recovering from a major life event, Mindfulness can help. Learning how to let go of emotions has transformed Dr. Chantal’s own life and she calls the techniques that are covered in this workshop, among of the most powerful ones she has worked with.  2-4pm, $120

Release Physical Tension, June 4

Join Kylie Rook for a full body release class covering the trigger points and myofascial lines from head to toe. We all accumulate ‘knots’ from poor posture, repetitive movements and muscle compensation, which can lead to back and neck pain, headaches, stiffness and discomfort in the body. No yoga experience is required; everyone is welcome to come enjoy trigger point release! 11.30am  – 1.30pm, $60

Each two hour workshop will take place on Saturday and vary in price. Places are limited and will operate on a first in, first served basis. To book contact Erica at [email protected]

The workshops are an extra addition to Studio Red’s usual yoga schedule, which changes weekly and includes vinyasa, yin, hatha and vinyasa flow to music classes lead by the team of highly experienced and passionate teachers. For more information on Dr Hofstee, visit  www.renewyourmind.co.nz
