New Zealand’s soul supergroup Hipstamatics will tour their fun and funky live set throughout New Zealand this summer – a musical experience not to be missed. The band’s Dillon Riesterer answered a few questions about what to expect from the show and a little bit about themselves.
Can you describe the type of music Hipstamatics play, and what people can expect when they come to your show?
Hipstamatics play high energey soul powered funk! We will be playing our new original material on the tour and are very excited about it. We have put together a show that’ll be very unuique and different. It’s going to be very fun to tour
Can you tell us a little about how the band came together?
The band was formed by the colabritive efforts of a Music Producer and Pilot. They started a covers band that has formed into what is Hipstamatics today. Many members have come and gone over the years refining the members.
Describe the The Soul Revue Tour in 3 words.
Soul Powered Funk
What summer gig are you most looking forward to playing and why?
Soundsplash! We are super excited about playing soundsplash. It’ll be one of the biggest audiences and stages for us. Really keen to expose our music to some new faces!
Tell us about the new single Stop..
Stop was written by Moses Sulsui and Carla James. Most of our songs are collbritive efforts from the band members. This is on of the newer fresher sounding tracks. Others better reflect the yesteryear.
If there was one artist you could collaborate with, who would it be?
We would love to back many of the NZ soul artists! But if alive or dead James Brown, Ray Charles, Otis Redding any of the old soul greats!
