What’s On: Diwali Festival

The annual Diwali Festival celebrating traditional and contemporary Indian culture is back in Auckland this weekend

The annual Diwali Festival brings together Aucklanders and visitors of all ages and ethnic backgrounds to celebrate and experience traditional and contemporary Indian culture in its many exciting forms. Auckland Diwali Festival is the largest vegetarian festival in the country and includes vibrant live performances by local and international performers, a broad range of Indian foods and sweets to try and love as well as street theatre and workshops. The festival ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

If travelling to and from the festival, avoid parking hassles and catch public transport. Aotea Square is in walking distance from the Britomart Transport Centre and the ferry terminals. There will be extra trains running on Sunday, to get people to and from the festival and Auckland Transport will also have extra bike racks at Aotea Square for people cycling to the festival.
