Urban QR Code Hunt launches to encourage unexpected adventures in Auckland’s city centre.
Auckland, New Zealand 8 May 2023: Heart of the City today launched a hunt to get more people discovering new experiences with research revealing Kiwis often do the same things, get stuck in the same routines, and long to do something more exciting and unexpected[1].
More than 90% of those surveyed said they were open to being more spontaneous, and 86% said that post lockdown they felt more inspired to make the most of the time they had.
“Many people are looking for something different to do, and we want to help them to get out and about and find all of the unique, unexpected experiences and hidden gems that can be found in the city centre” says Heart of the City CEO Viv Beck.
Hidden QR codes will be dotted around the city centre and people who spot and scan them will go in the draw to win Heart of the City experience vouchers to the value of $350 each. Clues to the QR code whereabouts will be posted daily on Heart of the City Instagam Stories to give the curious a head-start from Friday 5 May.
Viv Beck continues, “There’s so much to do and discover – from a selfie studio, to a neon light museum, you can even be the star of your very own show in a movie poster. We’re encouraging people to break out of their routines, head into the city centre and do something spontaneous, new and exciting with their friends and families.”
To help people try new experiences, do something a little bit different or discover quirky and sometimes hidden gems the City Centre offers, an online ‘City Centre Experience Selector’ is also available to provide fun experience mash-ups across a range of adventure types from family friendly, to escapades with mates, to low cost thrills.
And for those who want those unexpected combinations of city centre adventures served up for them, Heart of the City has a preselected list of experiences ready to explore.
Key findings from the Pure Profile Survey include:
- 79% of people surveyed feel they often do the same thing, and get stuck in the same routines.
- 81% of people long to do something more exciting and unexpected.
- 93% are open to being more spontaneous.
- Post lockdown, 86% of people feel more inspired to make the most of the time they have.
