Mindful muesli

Something to Crow About are official sponsors of this year’s Breast Cancer Foundation NZ Pink Ribbon Breakfast.

If you love your muesli to have a conscience, you’ll be pleased to know that Whangaparaoa-based business Something to Crow About is giving back to the community one breakfast at a time.

The company, which handcrafts a range of delicious and nutritious mueslis, has this year partnered up with Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. They’re an official sponsor of Pink Ribbon Breakfasts, a campaign which runs annually in May to raise funds for breast cancer research and support.

Something to Crow About’s founders, Christine and Mike Millar, started their business in 2014 when they wanted a change to focus on maintaining a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. They achieved this and decided that it was time to give back.

“Like many New Zealanders, we have friends and family who have been affected by breast cancer, and Something to Crow About is all about celebrating breakfast, so it was a natural choice for us to support a cause that is close to the hearts of so many Kiwis,” Christine Millar says.

To help raise awareness and encourage people to get involved with a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, Something to Crow About will be adding pink ribbons to packs of their muesli, which you’ll be able to find in supermarkets throughout May.

“We are looking forward to getting our ‘pink’ on to support the Breast Cancer Foundation,” Christine says.

If you’re looking for a tasty breakfast that will cater to your lifestyle, you’re likely to find a muesli for you, as the team focus on gluten-free, low sugar and paleo-friendly blends.

Christine and Mike pride themselves on being as sustainable as possible when sourcing ingredients, and as a company they focus on minimising waste. In fact, any nuts and grains that are collected from the floor of their production facility are put aside and left at the back door as free feed for locals to feed to their chickens.
