5 ways to make the most of daylight savings

Daylight savings is back (hallelujah) – which means more daylight hours and the feeling that summer is truly right around the corner. Here are our five top things to do to thrive with the time change.

1. Make the most of the sun-kissed evenings and our beautiful backdrops and head to a vantage spot to watch the sunset. This is a great way to head outdoors and relax after work with friends or your significant other. Grab a blanket, some fish and chips and enjoy mother nature. Alternatively, set your clock a little bit earlier and wake up to see the sunrise. We can’t think of a better way to start the day!

Watching the sunset at your local west coast beach is a beautiful way to end the day.

2. Host a dinner party outdoors. Throw up some fairy lights, set the outdoor table and put on a summer-vibing playlist. Get into the spirit by having fun making some season-inspired cocktails (or mocktails if it’s a school night) like this refreshing Pomegranate and Lime Spritzer. Don’t forget the citronella candles!

3.  Use the added light after work to start a new spring exercise regime. If running isn’t your thing, enjoy a stroll with a friend or take the dog out for a walk after dinner. For more advice on spring training, see our story here

4. If you’re looking to the warmer months for some outdoor DIY projects, take advantage of the added light as a way to save on your electricity bill. Aim to only have your lights on at night when the sun goes down – keep your curtains or blinds open and let the light in!

5. Get started on growing your garden! Spring is a great time to get stuck in, and with extra daylight hours at night, you’ll be able to give your garden the attention it needs. In warmer areas, sow your favourite veggie seedlings into the garden, or sow seeds in trays now for transplanting later.
