After a successful debut in 2023, the Kiwi Art Trail is returning with an expanded tour for 2024/25, bringing vibrant art and kiwi conservation to communities around Aotearoa. So, if you’re planning a road trip with the family this summer, now you can add kiwi spotting to your itinerary!
This year’s trail begins in Tauranga and will travel across the North Island, visiting Ahuriri Napier, Whangārei, and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland over the next six months.

The outdoor exhibition features over 20 kiwi sculptures, designed by renowned Kiwi artists like Weston Frizzell, Flox, Kura Te Waru Rewiri, Amanda Billing and Jing Lui. Each artwork celebrates the beloved national bird, offering a creative way for people to engage with both New Zealand art and conservation.
The event is tied to the annual Save the Kiwi Week, and when the trail wraps up, all the sculptures will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to vital kiwi conservation projects. Organisers have also made sure to involve local talent in each region, with funds from two sculptures in each location earmarked specifically for conservation efforts in that area.
“The Kiwi Art Trail helps bring attention to our iconic manu in a way that’s accessible to everyone,” says Save the Kiwi CEO Michelle Impey. “It’s a chance for people to connect with this national taonga while supporting conservation work that’s making a real difference.”
