After arriving flustered and drained, Justine Jamieson discovers how The Healing Room’s Radiance & Resonance treatment, blending Gua Sha, Reiki and sound healing, restores balance and inner glow.
I arrived at The Healing Room carrying the kind of frazzled energy that comes from a relentless day: premenstrual, teary, and still half in work mode. Yet the moment I wandered through the beautiful courtyard and stepped inside, the pace shifted. The space seemed to breathe serenity. With candlelight flickering and herbal tea in hand, the calm welcome from the practitioners felt like a gentle reminder to exhale.
I had come for a treatment intriguingly titled Radiance & Resonance, a 90-minute immersion blending sound healing, Reiki, Gua Sha, and botanical skincare. I thought I had tried just about every beauty and wellness ritual under the sun, but this was my first Gua Sha facial, and it turned out to be so much more than a facial.
A Multi-Sensory Ritual

The session began softly, with the delicate chime of Koshi bells, a botanical oil cleanse, and the comforting press of a warm aromatherapy towel. These small opening gestures signalled a clear departure from the outside world, coaxing me into a slower rhythm.
As Iris began the Gua Sha facial, infused with Reiki for subtle energetic balance, Jess filled the room with the resonance of crystal bowls. The combination was remarkable: the cool, smooth stone gliding across my skin seemed to move in harmony with the vibrations that rippled through my body.
A mineral-rich clay mask followed, paired with a rosemary-scented scalp massage so blissful I nearly drifted off. By the time the final Reiki and meditation closed the treatment, I felt deeply grounded, luminous, and whole. With all six senses engaged, I felt completely renewed.
The Roots of Gua Sha
Like many, I had always thought of Gua Sha as a beauty tool for sculpting cheekbones and reducing puffiness. What I learned instead is that, at its origins, Gua Sha is about energy flow and internal balance, not vanity.
Practised with light, upward strokes, it gently stimulates circulation and awakens Qi (energy), drawing from the key principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Lymphatic drainage occurs naturally, but the deeper focus is vitality, clarity, and spiritual awareness. This gentler, intentional approach felt worlds away from the harsh scraping techniques popularised on social media.
At The Healing Room, the practice is enhanced by Bian stone tools, carved from ancient volcanic rock rich in minerals. Their grounding weight and natural warmth added an earthy, elemental quality to the ritual.

The People Who Hold the Space
The experience is shaped as much by the practitioners as by the techniques.
- Iris Bellve, Reiki Master and beautician, brings an intuitive, ritualistic approach to healing. Her touch is gentle yet purposeful, weaving together beauty and energy work.
- Jess Pearson, Sound Therapist and Reiki Master, creates an immersive soundscape that lifts the treatment into something cosmic, both anchored and expansive.
Together, they offer more than a service. They create a sanctuary where you can arrive exactly as you are: flustered, tired, emotional, and leave feeling rebalanced.
A Sanctuary Beyond Beauty
When I stepped back into the world, my skin had the post-facial glow I hoped for, but the transformation reached much deeper. My mind was calm, my body felt lighter, and my emotional knots had gently loosened. In the days that followed, people remarked on how bright I looked, and I could feel my energy had cleared.
The Healing Room isn’t about surface-level results. It is about slowing down, listening inward, and remembering the body’s natural wisdom. For anyone seeking true restoration, Radiance & Resonance is a beautiful invitation to reset, recharge, and reconnect. It is also the perfect gift for that overworked person in your life — including yourself.
