Inspired by the beauty of the Pacific and the landscape of the Bay of Islands, Tom Burnett has created another series of paintings on display now, called The Blue Room.

The blues of the sea, the sky, the birds, the fish and the shore merge with the mountains, lakes and rivers of Burnett’s home to create beautiful pieces of art.

Burnett creates his art traditionally – each layer of paint is hand pulled through a silk screen across cotton-rag paper. Each of his pieces are subtly different and alive.

The Blue Room series brings both attention and funds to the plight of the ocean and the life it sustains. With concerns of the destruction plastics are having on the world’s oceans, Burnett is taking positive action and donating 10 per cent of profits from these paintings to two chosen campaigns – Oceana and Greenpeace International.

The series will be on display at the Allpress Gallery on Drake Street in Freemans Bay, Auckland until September 9.
