We’ve spent a lot of time at home this year, and it’s made us appreciate the importance of living (and working) in a space that we love and feel comfortable in.

Here are six Instagram-approved home trends to inspire you while making your house a home.

1. The feminine figure

Activate your feminine energy with these candles by Brooklyn artist Bonan Kim.

There’s also New Zealand-based artist Rosie Boxall who explores the feminine form through sculpting clay vases.

2. The Arnold Circus Stool

You could have sat on the Arnold Circus Stool at a café without realising it. Designed by Martino Gamper, the stools are used as the official seating for annual Arnold Circus events in London.

In the home they prove to be versatile and can be used as a perfectly practical side table, or inverted to double as a champagne bucket.

The stools are made in New Zealand from 100% recyclable polyethylene plastic.

3. Storage hacks

2020 is also the year of storage hacks, and whether or not you deem it necessary to label every container in your house, accounts like @lifeinjeneral have us re-organising everything from our shoe racks to our cutlery drawers.

We’re making space for what matters, because life’s too short for clutter.

4. House plants

Once you start collecting house plants you won’t be able to stop. There’s an array of green-thumbed Instagrammers showing off their plants (bonus points for the variegated sort), and if you’re in search of a like-minded community, Cool Plant Group on Facebook is the place to be.

5. Second hand gems

From wicker furniture to seashell plates, Instagram makes window shopping fun.

Don’t discount your local charity shop either. As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
