Silkbody’s response to our Who Makes Your Clothes? campaign.
Read the letter we sent Silkbody here.
Hello Sarah,
We hope that we are not too late in responding to your question “Who makes your clothes?” and would be very happy to have you include our comments online and on Facebook.
We were only comfortable to proceed with the genesis of Silkbody, eleven years ago, after scrupulous personal examination of production methods, workers’ conditions and of environmental issues. Silkbody has proudly been grown and manufactured in the Jiangsu province of China since 2002. Silk was discovered in China 5000 years ago and it is still produced using basic traditional methods that are sustainable and low-impact.
For a detailed account of the ethics of our business and a video showing the entire production process of a Silkbody garment, visit our website.
We visit our factory at least annually and on the last visit in November 2012 David wrote a blog recording his visit. Check it out for a detailed report and photos.
Best regards
David Cooper and Emily Cooper
