More reasons to love Mina: a gingham collaboration and a new retail space

There’s more than a few reasons to love Mina, a brand that has a story to tell behind every piece of its made-in-New Zealand clothing.

Its latest move to open a new retail space in Grey Lynn, Auckland, exemplifies how local fashion brands are focusing on their loyal and local consumer bases post-Covid, as opposed to exploring overseas opportunities to define success.

The inspiration for Mina’s new space focuses on texture. Lead designer Natalie Proctor and James McNab from Think + Shift worked with natural linen, plaster and brass to compliment the inherited exposed brick of the building the store is nestled into. The space flaunts a lived-in feel, with a muted colour pallet and materials that will wear with age, replicating the essence of Mina clothing that is enjoyed and worn by women of all ages.

Additional features include a bass counter slab (Powersurge), pendant lights (Alex Buckman) and beeswax finished plaster (Pilkington Interiors).

Proctor says of the chosen location that “Grey Lynn has such a humble community and being a brand focussed on people and community, Grey Lynn just felt like the perfect fit for our first showroom/store space”.

And in celebration of the simple pleasures that the warmer months bring, Mina is collaborating with Kōkako Coffee Roasters, Wundaire Ceramics and The Caker to create a selection of slow, conscious and locally made products to be enjoyed and gifted this holiday season.

Uniting in a cottage-core inspired mint gingham print, reflective of Mina’s SS21 collection, the Kiwi brands have come together to acknowledge their shared values of community, nurtured supply chains and thoughtfully made offerings.

From December 7, a limited edition range of gingham ceramics will be available from Wundaire, a gingham-topped cake will be available from The Caker and gingham wrapped coffee bean bags available from Kōkako. All products are found at minaforher.com and available while stocks last. We love that!
