Hej hej open their first permanent store in Ponsonby

Building on the success of their pop-up at Bloc Mt Eden, hej hej announce their first permanent store in Auckland.

With the rise of online shopping, it’s now more important for a retail space to stand apart.

Hej hej is synonymous for its bright, fun, rainbow-inspired collections.

Never taking themselves too seriously, they wanted to reflect the same belief through their in-store shopping experience at their new flagship store in Ponsonby.

Working together with Wonder Group, whose previous projects include Duck Island, INCO studio and Wynn Hamlyn, the space (formerly Moochi) embodies hej hej’s trademark love of colour.

Minimally dressed, the interior is a burst of sky-blue, peachy pink and butter-yellow. Garments hang from a simple white rail, bespoke for the site, that wiggles its way through the interior.

In a sea of monochromatic neighbours, the goal was to stand out rather than fit in.

The conservatory space is small but perfectly sized for the edgy, colour-punch approach Wonder Group created with Hej hej founders Alice Isles and Kiki Judd.

Filled with natural light, the store will not be missed with its palette of periwinkle, lemon, pink, peach, orange and midnight blue and features iconic wavy racks.

Now open at 282 Ponsonby Road, the store showcases their new Summer 21/22 ‘Fresh as a Daisy’ womenswear collection and limited edition menswear capsule.
