Entries open for 2022 Sustainable Business Awards

The Sustainable Business Awards are New Zealand’s longest-running and pre-eminent sustainability awards. Now in their 20th year, they recognise businesses, local government, social enterprises and individuals for success in sustainability.

Entry to the awards is free. It is open to all organisations and individuals in New Zealand.

Rachel Brown ONZM is CEO of the Sustainable Business Network. She says:

“More than ever before, Kiwis want to know who is making a positive difference, so they can support those businesses over the coming years. And that’s where these Awards come in. They’re a great way to celebrate your sustainability achievements and share them with Aotearoa New Zealand.

“If you have a sustainability story to tell, now’s the time to share it! And if you know of a person or business doing awesome work, why not submit a nomination for them?

“This is the 20th year of the Awards and we’re going to make them extra special. So get on and enter today – you won’t regret it!”

The Sustainable Business Awards provide the chance to compete in nine categories of sustainable business:

  • Sustainability Superstar
  • Communicating for Impact
  • Climate Action Leader
  • Social Impactor
  • Outstanding Collaboration
  • Going Circular
  • Food for Good
  • Regenerating Nature
  • Change Maker

The Supreme Award will be awarded to a business for outstanding performance in all aspects of sustainability. Last year’s Supreme Winner was Community Finance.

Paul Gilberd, General Manager of Community Finance, says the Award win has helped grow the organisation. “There have been numerous places, conversations and meetings over the past year where the Award has helped us open doors, progress initiatives and connect with new values-aligned people through shared values and interests,” he says.

NZI is the 20th Anniversary Partner of the Awards.

Garry Taylor, Executive General Manager, NZI says:

“NZI is delighted to be the Principal Sponsor of the SBN Awards in its 20th year. We have been involved in these awards for more than 15 years. It’s heartening to see how sustainability activity and innovation has grown during that time.

“Sustainability is a key focus for us at NZI, especially when it comes to climate change – with severe weather events affecting more of our customers every year. We’re proud to be able to help recognise and spotlight those companies, organisations and individuals who are working to make New Zealand more sustainable, and to address the challenges of climate change.”

Entries close on 24 July 2022.

Category sponsors are: NZI, Department of Conservation, Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment, Waka Kotahi / NZ Transport Agency, New World, Auckland Council, MAS and Kind&Co.

The Broadcast Partner is Stuff.
