Dietary supplements: meet the new kid on the block

Our bodies need particular vitamins and minerals to function, and when we can’t maintain adequate levels of these nutrients ourselves, we turn to supplements to prop up our diet.

Some of us spend all day inside, we don’t get our eight hours of sleep, and our diets aren’t abundant in the nutrients our bodies need. It’s a lifestyle very different to that of our ancestors, who spent days out in the sun hunting and gathering food grown in nutrient-rich soil, with no need for supplements.

Let’s be real though, taking supplements is annoying. We get our blood test results, and go to the shops, leaving with a multitude of pill containers. Our pantries look like the shelves of a health-food store, there are too many pills to take at different times, and there’s at least one day of the week where we forget to take them.

Speaking to the brains behind new vitamin supplement brand Health by Habit, their motto is simple: “Good habits begin within”. They produce a range of supplements focused on solutions. Customers know what they’re buying and understand instantly what their supplements will support, for example, immunity, energy, or sleep. Isn’t it boring taking ‘magnesium’ but reassuring to know you’re benefiting your ‘sleep’?

Even better, Health by Habit’s doses are specifically formulated so you only need to take one pill per day (unless recommended otherwise by your doctor). Ideally, you don’t need to remember taking pills throughout the day, or replace your supplements at different times.

Health By Habit has also engineered the industry’s first one-twist pill dispenser made of recycled materials – all you need to do is “click, flip, sip, and you’re on your way!”.

A Health by Habit spokesperson explains more about the use of recycled materials for the dispenser, saying that “it took us a long time to find a supplier who was able to provide us this at food-grade, but we knew it would be worth it in the long run”.

There’s also a design element to the stylish and simple packaging. “So many brands look like they are the exact same container with a slightly different sticker (and most of the time this is actually true!). We love to push the envelope and kept asking ourselves how we could improve the experience of taking vitamins in a fun yet effective way.”

It’s optimistic that Health by Habit manufacturers their supplements in New Zealand. Their manufacturer has Certified Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and all of their products are batch tested to ensure purity and accuracy to their labels.

In a market crammed by the shelf with dietary supplements, it’s clear that Health by Habit is here for a reason. This new kid on the block is catering to a gap in the market which reduces consumer confusion and seeks to improve the customer experience overall.
