This husband and wife duo are travelling around the country to perform 23 shows.
Having launched their debut album, Manu, on Waitangi Day at Auckland’s Grey Lynn Library, Aro have set off on their nationwide tour.
The force behind Aro is husband and wife duo Charles and Emily Looker. Their sound is distinctly Aotearoa / New Zealand pop. They’ve also infused their other influences of RnB, Jazz and kapa haka into their music.
During their 23-show tour from Russell to Stewart Island, the pair will be sharing their album Manu, which has been inspired by the native birds of New Zealand. It’s a bilingual album featuring te reo Māori and English, and is the result of Emily and Charles touring the country discovering stories to share within the album.
The duo drew inspiration from the melodies, rhythms and the stories of New Zealand’s native birds, and one of their drives for the tour is to share those stories with the people of Aotearoa.
